Ryoga/Ookayama
凌駕/大岡山

Ryoga is a new shop in Ookayama, near the MenYa Basara ramen shop. In fact, the broth style is very close, with a similar heavy garlic and onion taste, but no clove that I could detect. It's a new store, small but clean. There are only 8 or 9 seats and the ticket machine is on the right when you walk in. You can get a free upgrade to chu mori (中盛り, medium size noodles) service if you want, the default noodle amount is 200g so plan appropriately. The grilled chashu that you get with the tsukemen is excellent, grilled perfectly like the chashu from Hirugao near Shinjuku Gyoen. The noodles are also a lot like Tetsu's, perhaps a shade thinner but the same basic makeup. There's extra fried garlic in oil in a big container on the counter (you can see it in the picture above). This stuff is really strong so be careful how much you put in. The broth is really dark and rich, with lots of garlic and onions. If you get the ramen instead of the tsukemen you can get a large amount of extra veggie toppings in "mashi mashi" form (3-4 inches above the top of the bowl at least).
